1.
New Jerusalem, divine home of the faithful!
I long each day to dwell beneath your shelter.
I long for that pure and beautiful place,
Radiant with golden light and holiness.
My heart longs for that glorious city;
I eagerly wait to make it my home.
2.
Your foundations are precious jewels,
Shining with brilliant, many-colored light.
They give their radiance to the heavens
And bring delight to the eyes of all who behold them.
3.
Your twelve gates are made of twelve pearls,
Bringing joy and wonder to all who enter.
Your streets are pure gold,
Clear and shining like crystal—
What joy they will bring to those who walk upon them!
4.
There is no need for a lamp there,
Nor for the sun or moon to give you light.
The Son of God Himself is the lamp,
And the whole city shines with heavenly glory.
5.
O land where there is no darkness,
O home filled with the glory of God!
My heart longs and waits eagerly
To come quickly and dwell in Your presence.
6.
There is always peace and healing in You,
While there is so much sorrow here on earth.
There is no death there;
When I arrive, I will experience
The goodness and mercy of Christ.
7.
O dear Mother Jerusalem!
May all your children who love you
Be gathered into your bosom,
You are the help of your sons.
