1
I have only one true joy in this world:
To come into the presence of Jesus.
When I do, all the sorrow in my heart disappears,
Like snow melting in the heat of the sun.
2
Earthly honor, wealth, and all this world's glory
Can never give me peace.
My thirst only grows, and apart from water,
The world has nothing that can truly satisfy.
3
Like a deer longing for flowing streams,
My soul longs for comfort in my Lord.
He gives me the river of living water,
Quenching my emptiness and filling me with deep satisfaction.
4
Just as sparrows and swallows find a place
To build their nests near the altar,
I too continually seek joyful refuge
In the Almighty God, who is my strength.
5
There are many valleys of tears
Along my journey through this earthly life.
Yet why should I be afraid?
My gracious Lord is near me,
Pouring out His grace like refreshing rain.
