892.  Nokkil aarkkum mathi

                      Psalm 122

            Nokkil-aarkkum mathivaraa mandiram
            Bhaagya naadhante divyamaam aalayam
            Poka namavidennu chonnala-venthu modamudichu me!-

  1. Saaleme! njangal kaalukal ninnude
    Vaathilinn akameyithaa sthithi cheythidunnathi chithramaay
    Thammil cherthinakki-ppanithulloru
    Harmmyame thava bhangi vaazhthuvath-
    Ethoruthanu saadhyamaam?-
     
  2. Iisraaye linnu saakshyathinaay thathra
    Sthothraseva nadathuvaan akhilesha gothra samuchayam
    Ethunnavide daaveedu raajante
    Shasthamerina dharmmapeetda mirunnidunnu vidhikkitha!
     
  3. Aashams-kkevam shaalemin shaanthiye
    Swairamaay nivasikka ninnodu kurezhunnavar evarum
    Ninnara-mana kothalam enniva
    Nirnnayam sukha shaanthikondu niranjirikkana mennume-
     
  4. En sahodaranmaarum sakhaakkalum
    Ninnilaanu vasippathennoru kaaranathe ninachu njaan
    Ninnil shaanthiundaakennu khoshikkum
    Mannavaalaya mullathaal thava nanma njaan karuthidume
     
  5. Vandanam pithaavinnu nirantharam
    Vandanam naravargga rakshakan eshuvinnumathe vidham
    Vandanam paripaavana rupikkum vandanam-
    Yuga kaalamaay thudarette maanavar evarum

Meaning:

No one can ever look upon this temple and have enough of its beauty—
the blessed Lord's glorious dwelling place!
The moment someone says,
“Let us go there!”
my heart fills with overwhelming joy.

O Salem, Jerusalem!
Our feet are standing within your gates.
Look at your beautiful buildings,
constructed so perfectly,
with every part joined together in harmony.
Who could ever find words
worthy enough to praise your beauty?

Jerusalem stands as a testimony to Israel.
There the tribes of the Lord gather together
to offer praise and worship.
There is the throne of judgment,
the righteous seat established
according to the law of King David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you live in peace and security.
May peace and prosperity fill your walls
and your magnificent palaces.”
May your dwelling places
be filled with lasting peace and well-being.

Because my brothers and friends live within you,
I will say:
“May peace be with you, Jerusalem!”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our King,
I will seek your good
and pray for your prosperity.

Blessing and praise be continually offered
to the Father.
Blessing and praise also to Jesus,
the Savior of humanity.
And blessing to the Holy Spirit as well.
May all people continue to offer
their praise and worship forever,
through all generations and all ages
