10. Parane mathathilaakkaan shramamottu valare
    Viravodu nammude durnnadappithinnethire
    Kuravillennurachu naamirunnidunnuyare
    Maravillaa parannithin vidhiyo thannadhare- 

Meaning:

We speak as though we desire what is good,
yet every day we continue doing what is wrong.
It is like going to bathe and wash ourselves clean,
only to come back and cover our bodies with mud again.

1. God's commandments are in our hands,
and we claim to desire them earnestly.
Yet our hearts long for the honor and approval of the world.
Even while lying in bed,
our thoughts can become entangled
with worldly things.

2. Separation from worldly ways is beneficial,
but when it comes to breaking our attachment to the world,
we resist.
When we examine everything honestly,
we see how entangled we are.
These days, we do whatever is convenient for us.

3. With our lips we sing praises to God,
yet our minds wander in many different directions.
Our bodies may attend prayer meetings faithfully,
while our hearts and thoughts
wander somewhere else.

4. Giving for the sake of public recognition
may seem good to people.
But giving secretly, where no one knows,
is much more difficult.
We are quick to rush into public places of prayer,
but we are afraid to sit alone
in the presence of God.

5. We speak to others
about spiritual and godly things.
When they see us regularly doing such things,
they may be impressed by our example.
But when we speak,
our desire for praise and recognition
often diminishes the value of our words.
When the opportunity comes to practice what we preach,
all those good intentions disappear.

6. We constantly say,
“The Word of God is our authority,”
yet our worship is often shaped
by human traditions and opinions.
We pray about what we eat
and about many other things,
while neglecting matters
that are actually painful and difficult.

7. We have little desire
to cleanse the impurity of our hearts.
It is tragic that the sinful nature within us
has not been put to death.
We may eagerly desire polished ornaments
and beautiful outward appearances,
while our hearts are filled
with the sickness of sin.

8. We honor and respect wealthy people,
and everyone becomes gentle toward them
when they have something to offer.
If even a little money comes our way,
we are willing to pursue almost anything for it.

9. We constantly condemn those
who worship idols,
yet we bow before money,
which has itself become an idol.
We continually condemn Judas for his betrayal,
yet we too are willing
to abandon the Lord
for something of little value.

10. We make great efforts
to bring others into our religion.
We speak strongly against immoral behavior
and declare that there is nothing wrong with us.
But if we look honestly at our own lives,
we cannot hide anything from God.
His judgment will reveal the truth.
