1. Let us fight the good fight
and run the race faithfully.
Let us follow the good path of our mighty Lord.
Throw off every burden and sin,
keep our eyes fixed on the goal,
and run straight ahead
until we finish the race.
2. Many people may run in a race,
but is it not only one who receives the prize?
Let us therefore run with determination
to receive the reward.
3. Let us forget what lies behind us
and run straight toward the goal
that lies ahead.
4. If we discipline our desires
and run with self-control,
we will receive the prize
for which we have set our hearts.
5. At any moment Satan may try
to trouble and frighten us.
But we need not be afraid,
for God's angels are there
to watch over and protect us.
6. When we see forests, mountains,
and difficult places along the way,
let us not stop in doubt or fear.
Let us receive strength
and keep running forward.
7. Even if many have started the race before us,
let us not be like Lot's wife,
who looked back
and stopped on the way.
8. If you keep looking here and there,
you will lose your progress.
Run without distraction or hesitation,
and you will receive the crown.
9. The day when the race will end
is drawing near.
The time is coming when we will hear the trumpet.
So let us run quickly
while there is still time.
10. The believers who ran the race before us
have finished and entered their rest.
Let us join them in that heavenly homeland,
singing songs of praise
and rejoicing forever.
