Meaning:
1
Everything we see in this earthly world is temporary.
Great glory, wealth, and all the pleasures of life
will eventually pass away.
2
Our life on earth is like grass;
like flowers that bloom today
but wither away tomorrow.
3
Harvests, wealth, success, and fame will all be lost.
Even those we respect and love as close friends
will eventually leave us.
4
Even if we live seventy years,
or perhaps eighty, and when we look back,
it is filled with much trouble and hardship.
5
In the wilderness of this world,
people search for security and support.
Yet, like someone wilting under the scorching sun
of a harsh desert, humanity suffers and fades away.
6
But as God's children, heaven is our own true homeland.
This earthly world is only a temporary place for us—
we are merely travelers and strangers here.
