Meaning:

1
The winter has passed,
and the season of rain is over.
O saunterer,* the heavenly beauty,
My people praise you.
Do not let your lovely body darken like black ink
Rise, and come away with me,
you beautiful one, the blossom of righteousness.

2
The earth itself now appears like a bed
shining with flowers in full bloom.
O heavenly beauty, on our way we can see
the the holy ones in glory who are
the flowers that have blossomed
from the branches of the heavenly tree
If delayed, when will we finally reach
that dwelling place?

3
The songs of the birds fill the whole sky,
even the gentle call of the turtle dove.
As though the power of salvation
has come upon the earth,
people have laid aside their rivalries and divisions.
Joy is heard everywhere,
and peace fills the land continually.

4
The figs on the fig tree are clearly ripening,
and the vines are in bloom, filling the air with their fragrance.
People have become spiritually numb and asleep,
breathing in the sweetness of this world.
Now, awakened by this fragrance,
they have received new life
and are preaching the good news.

5
O beautiful one, full of overflowing joy,
come forth today!
Let Satan tremble and flee.
Come with the majesty of a mighty army,
honored by the hosts of heaven.
Remove the shame and reproach;
let the world bow at your feet, my beloved!

6
O my beloved, like a dove
living in the clefts of the rocks
and hidden places of the mountains,
may you stand courageously and firmly
before all people without losing heart.
May I see your noble and radiant face
and welcome you into my home,
O glorious one!

7
When I see your face and hear your voice,
I will remember the suffering I endured for your sake.
The pain I bore for my children will be
precious to my Father like new and divine food,
I will forget those sorrows
and live out my remaining days in joy.

*Kunjara gamini  = one who walks gracefully, slow and
steady without rushing, like an elephant
