   Than madhuraamruthame (2)

Meaning:

O Lord, when we meditate on Your sweet, joy-giving Word, give us grace.
Pour out the streams of Your Word into every heart according to its need.

1. Sin’s darkness makes the commands of Scripture seem burdensome.
   Let everyone receive them with joy and awaken to new life;
   Let them hear Your voice. 

2. Speak into Your servants’ ears the voice that gave Lazarus life;
   Speak Your life-giving Word,
   So that these spiritually dead may cry out and be awakened. 

3. Let those who have turned away and abandoned Your grace,
   Come back with sorrowful and troubled hearts;
   Let them hear Your voice calling them. 

4. Pour out the rain of Your grace,
   So that Your people may remain firmly established in You.
   May Your pure and spotless Word
   Be their sweet, life-giving nourishment.
