Meaning:

What an amazing wonder—
The love revealed at Calvary!
The Most High One
Bore the sins of the whole world,
The curse of all humanity.

Before the beginning of time,
Before the ages were ever formed,
You, O Eternal Lord, remembered sinners
And loved us even then.
That love is my only refuge,
The hope my heart holds on to—
You are the source
Of divine mercy and grace.

What an amazing mystery—
The Eternal God became human
And willingly endured suffering.
You, so glorious and beautiful,
Chose to become one of us.
Who can ever understand
The greatness of what You have done?
Your love is beyond measure!

Did You really purchase Your Church
With Your own precious blood?
Are these truly the ways
You chose to accomplish Your divine will?
Did Your sacred heart break
For the sake of the helpless and broken?
Did God Himself allow Himself
To be forsaken?

I had absolutely no right
To experience even the smallest taste
Of the joy of heaven.
Yet, by grace alone,
I, a sinner, have been saved.
The punishment I deserved for my sins
Has been taken away,
And I am set free.
