1
I have joined the army of Christ Jesus,
Standing boldly beneath the banner of His blood.
O Lord and King of the world, though I am poor and humble,
I will spend all my days trusting in Your mercy.
I will praise You for everything,
Give everything to You,
And bow at Your holy feet.
2
I will proclaim everywhere, without compromise,
The message of Your cross,
Which brings blessing to the world.
O Lord, who suffered for me,
Whenever I remember You
In the midst of every difficult trial,
I will not grow weary or fall back.
I will stand firm
Through the strength of Jesus' mighty hand.
3
I will stand at the forefront of the battle of faith.
With the sword of God's inspired Word,
I will strike down the enemy.
Even when mighty warriors have given their lives
To defend the truth on the battlefield,
I too will follow Christ,
Ready to shed even the last drop of my blood
For the sake of the truth.
4
I will fasten the belt of truth around my waist
And always wear the armor of righteousness.
I will put on the shoes
Of readiness to proclaim His Gospel.
I will take salvation as my helmet
And faith as my shield,
And fight in the fierce battle
Against the powers of evil.
5
Even when great famine and hardship
Come upon me again and again,
I will never be tempted to run away.
Even in suffering, I will look to my Lord,
Cut through the enemy's ranks
And keep moving forward.
With joy and courage I will advance,
Obeying the commands
Given by the Captain of my salvation.
6
Even when sorrow fills my heart
Because of the burdens of family and life,
I must stand firmly against the enemy
And remain faithful to the truth.
My King Himself carries all my burdens.
It would be foolish—utterly foolish—
For me to try to carry them alone.
Even if I must give my life,
I will never allow the enemy
To gain a foothold in my King's kingdom.
7
When I have finished the battles
And finally enter the King's palace,
My Lord will reward me
For all that I have done in His service.
At that very moment,
I will kiss His loving and gracious hand
And receive my reward from Him,
While the hosts of heaven stand around me—
To shine forever in His glory
And rejoice with Him eternally.
