   Van kadangal nin karangal theerthathaal
   Vaanil vegam vannidum ninnanthike cherppaan

Meaning:

O God, You came as the Light into this world filled with deep darkness.
Praise and glory be to the Lord!

My Lord offered Himself as the spotless sacrifice on the cross
and shed His precious blood, becoming the way of salvation and freedom for me.
O Lord, what could I ever give You in return for such a gift?
Praise and glory be to the Lord!

2.
You conquered death—what a wonderful miracle!
You removed fear and filled my heart with love and joy.
You are the One who now intercedes for me before the Father.
Praise and glory be to the Lord!

3.
I will sing and praise You joyfully,
because Your hands have paid all my great debts.
Soon You will come from heaven and take me
to be with You in Your presence.
