The darkness of the night is almost over;
The light of dawn is beginning to appear.
A new age is about to dawn,
And the Sun of Righteousness will shine His light.
Jesus our King will come,
And all our sorrows and troubles will finally end.
1.
Wake up! Wake up, brothers and sisters!
Is this really a time to sleep?
Is there another opportunity
To live for the One who gave us life?
No—this is the time!
2.
Rise up, you who have a vision!
Prepare the barren ground and sow the Word of God.
Get up and work the fields,
Ready to bear the reproach of the cross.
3.
Today we sow with tears;
Tomorrow we will reap with joyful celebration.
But if we are lazy and refuse to sow today,
What will we do when we weep tomorrow?
4.
Like a little lamp that has burned itself out,
Like a flower that has blossomed and faded away,
The precious moments given to us for our work
Will pass and never return.
5.
Love is our distinguishing mark;
Sacrifice is our treasure.
Unity is our great strength,
And victory will be our final reward.
6.
The day will come when our work
Will be tested by fire.
If the wood, hay, and straw are burned away,
What will be left of what we have done?
7.
Today God's faithful people may be despised,
But on that day they will reign over the earth.
No longer sorrowful or broken,
We will live as kings with our King.
