Ah, come, Lord Jesus!
We are waiting for You with deep longing.
O Lord of all, without You, we have no true life.
Come near to us, O Lord,
And let those who are dying come alive in You!
1
The dead cannot praise You;
Those who have died cannot glorify You.
Those who live only for the things of this earth
Are satisfied with the dust of the ground.
But, O Good and Noble One,
Whenever I meditate upon Your story and Your works,
My heart is filled with such great joy,
And that joy grows within me each day.
2
Your Holy Spirit once moved
Upon the face of the waters.
Through that mighty presence,
The lifeless and the living were brought to life.
And in that great flood,
Life multiplied abundantly,
Until the whole world was renewed
And brought forth life once again.
3
Blow Your own silver trumpet
And drive away all sluggishness and weakness.
Those who stand on the Lord's side
Will gladly echo its call.
They will rise swiftly and prepare themselves
To overthrow the worship of idols
That has spread throughout Israel.
4
May we become worthy
Of the life-giving bread of heaven.
May we listen with reverence
To Your words that flow like honey.
Taking up the sword of God's Word,
May we fight courageously
For the advancement of God's Kingdom
And receive the crown of victory.
