Meaning:
What an amazing wonder!
There upon the cross at Calvary,
My Savior died for me.
1.
He laid aside His heavenly glory
And, because of His great love for me,
Stretched out His hands and feet
Upon the wooden cross.
He never turned back, even unto death.
He bore the burden of my terrible sins
And carried them all away.
2.
The One who created the whole world
With a single word
And gave life to all things—
Did He die for a sinner like me?
The One whom countless angels praise
Chose to face death
Because He loved me.
3.
The glorious Lord became thirsty,
And wicked people mocked and rejected Him.
My God, my God,
Did You cry out,
“Why have You forsaken Me?”
All because of the love You had for me?
4.
My Lord is the greatest among ten thousand.
He conquered death
And lives forever in glory.
He is beautiful beyond compare,
Worthy of all honor and praise.
He alone is worthy
To receive my songs of worship.
