What joy it is, my soul, to follow Jesus, my great Lord!
When the heat of life becomes intense,
He gives me shade;
He will always be there to help and support me.

What hardship is there in carrying the burdens
of living in this world?
He will take every burden from me
and carry it upon His own head.
What a comfort that is!

Even if war, danger,
and opposition to the truth increase in this world,
and even if everyone turns against me,
He will provide a place of refuge for me.

He drives away my fears and leads me beside Himself.
Day by day, He increases His love within me.
When I become weary, He kindly strengthens me,
shows me the right path,
and gives me courage without fear.

There is no one in this world
who can help me like Him,
and no one else who can care for me as He does.
Even when I stand at the banks of the Jordan of death,
He will be right beside me,
and He will be my refuge and shelter
to the very end.
