My Lord and Master, Jesus,
You are my life and the giver of life.
My Lord and Master,
You are the source of my very life!
1
Did You determine from eternity
to die for the salvation of humanity?
Did You willingly take upon Yourself
the burden of my sinful life—
even the burden of a sinner like me?
2
We were rebellious and deeply sinful,
yet we hung You, the Holy One, upon the cross.
What amazing mercy!
For sinners and wrongdoers like us,
Your grace alone is our refuge.
3
You are the God who always hates sin,
yet You continually love the sinner.
By the blood that flowed from Your wounded side,
did You redeem me
and set me free?
4
Through Your one perfect sacrifice,
You made those who trust in You holy.
You also give them the grace
to grow in goodness and holiness,
and You opened a new and living way
for me to enter Your presence.
5
Because You Yourself were tested
and suffered through trials,
You are able to help those who are being tested.
Your gracious and comforting words
continually heal my heart
and take away its troubles.
6
Here I come, Lord,
walking the way of the cross.
Let me die to myself
so that You may live in me.
I no longer desire the glory of this world;
You alone are enough for me.
7
O God, You did not withhold
even Your own beloved Son,
but gave Him for us.
And in Him, You have given us everything;
therefore, You will continue to provide for me
and sustain me forever.
