En maname vaazhthuka naadhane
Avenennum nallavan
Meaning:
O my soul, praise the Lord,
For He is always good.
1.
He who dwelt among the praises of Israel
Became a curse for me upon the cross at Calvary,
Bearing my punishment and shame
So that I might be saved.
2.
How wonderful is His mercy—
He remembered me even in my lowly and helpless state.
I place my trust in His strong and precious hands,
For He holds me up and keeps me from falling.
3.
Just as He faithfully cared for His people
And provided for them throughout the forty years in the wilderness,
He is my Good Shepherd too,
And He will guide and lead me every day.
4.
When I become weary and discouraged because of sorrow,
His heart is my refuge.
He supports me with His precious hands
And gently wipes away my tears.
5.
Though I am like a clay vessel on this earth
And will one day pass away into the dust,
In heaven, I will shine like a precious golden star
In His glorious light.
