This is surely my Beloved—there is no doubt!
Look at Him, radiant and spotless,
shining like the rising sun.
1
The Light that rose in the deepest darkness,
the One whose blood was poured out
to wash away the stains of sin.
How sweet He is to sinners when they repent!
How wisely He answered the Pharisees!
Look at His feet, marked with wounds—
the very feet that once went searching
for the lost sheep that had wandered away.
And look at His hands as well;
they bear the marks of His suffering.
2
Look at His forehead—
covered with countless wounds
from the crown of thorns
and the blows He received from mocking hands.
Because of His immeasurable goodness,
He endured the blows of the whip
so that the people of the world
might be saved.
Look at these wounds!
He tasted the poison of death
and died, yet rose again to life.
Behold His body—
a body that death could not destroy!
Do you see Him, my friend?
3
The holy name of my Beloved
pours out a fragrance like perfume.
Because of His name,
His dwelling is precious to me.
Under His royal scepter
I live in peace, shining like the moon.
The King has given me a new name—
the King who came to earth
and became human for me,
the One who has now ascended
into the heavenly realm.
Look! He has revealed Himself to me.
4
His appearance is radiant—
a mixture of deep red and pure white.
His hair is black like the finest gold ornament,
and among thousands upon thousands
there is no one like Him.
His eyes are like eyes washed in milk,
resting beside flowing streams.
His cheeks are like fragrant beds of spices,
filled with sweet perfume.
Look at Him, my friend!
5
His appearance is majestic,
like Lebanon and its magnificent cedars.
There is no need to say that His voice is sweet—
everything about Him is precious and beautiful.
His words are sweeter than honey to me!
In every word He speaks,
I can see Him and rejoice.
My beloved Friend,
please come quickly!
Here I am, longing for You,
my heart overflowing with love.
