1
Jesus, whom my soul loves,
Even if everything else fades away, You alone remain.
You are the joy of my heart,
Today and forever.
If I have truly loved You,
It is because You loved me first, Jesus.
2
Is it really surprising that I love You?
Jesus, were You not the One who loved me first?
You poured out Your own blood for me.
If I have learned to love You,
It is because You loved me first, Jesus.
3
They placed a crown of thorns upon Your head
And pierced Your hands, yet You did not turn against me.
You freely purchased salvation for me.
If I love You today,
It is because of what You have done for me, Jesus.
4
Now You have entered
Into the glory of the Father.
Soon You will come again on the clouds
And take me to be with You.
If I love You today, Jesus,
May I remain faithful until You come.
5
Everything You give me—
Every comfort and every blessing—
I want to use for the glory of Your name.
Fill me with the fire of Your love,
So that my whole life may belong to You.
6
I will love You for as long as I live;
I will live for You.
Can the sword of death ever separate us?
Where is your victory, O death?
I will keep loving You, Jesus,
Forever.
7
Even in the glory of heaven,
Your precious gift to me,
I will rejoice as I behold Your face.
And when You place the crown of life upon me,
I will rejoice in You forever, Jesus.
