1
This road is very narrow and difficult—
Who will make it to the end?
Few are the companions, and few are the helpers.
Yes, this is the way of salvation.
Soon Jesus will come
To end our troubles and gather His faithful.
He will wipe away our tears,
And all our sorrow will be gone.
2
Who is there for me to lean on
Except my Bridegroom, Jesus?
There is much need in this difficult wilderness,
But we have His promises—
And every one of them is true.
3
Until death, I must be made holy—
By His precious blood,
Through His holy Word,
And by the Holy Spirit,
Until not a trace of sin remains.
4
If I must become less,
Let Jesus become greater in me.
Let all the glory belong to Him.
I must die to myself and live for Him;
Then I will not care if thousands are saved.
5
Though the Valley of Tears is filled with insults
And there is no shortage of sorrow,
There is still comfort.
The testimony of Jesus
And the truth of His Word
Are what sustain me.
6
Let my companions speak against me;
Let the people around me condemn me.
Jesus is still alive!
Whatever I have left behind or given up,
I have done because I chose to obey
The teaching of Jesus.
7
I am not merely a hired servant;
I am Christ’s representative.
I am one of His chosen people,
A royal priest,
A member of a holy nation—
I belong to Him.
