Meaning:

Look, dear friends,
The Son of God, who is carrying a cross.
He came into this world
To remove the curse that fell in Eden.
Oh, how He suffered and grew weary,
Walking towards Golgotha to die.

1.
He who rested in the presence of the Heavenly Father,
He who had always heard the songs of heaven,
Looked upon sinful and rebellious humanity
With a heart full of compassion.
Leaving behind all His heavenly glory,
He came down to this earth for us.

2.
The sinless One was betrayed by a cruel murderer
And abandoned to merciless sinners.
The wicked bound Him tightly
And handed Him over to be beaten.
His holy body was struck again and again
By cruel hands,
Until He was bruised and exhausted
Like earth beaten down by a plow.
Oh, what suffering He endured!

3.
Look at His beautiful face—
It is bruised and wounded by the blows.
His entire body is covered with blood,
Flowing from countless wounds.
Yet His enemies' anger does not lessen,
Not even for a moment.
Again and again they shout,
“Crucify Him! Nail Him to the cross!”

4.
With not even a trace of mercy,
They surround Him and torment Him.
They place a crown of thorns upon His head
And spit upon His holy face.
Oh, they make Him carry the cross,
And He struggles up the Calvary hill,
Climbing toward the place
Where He will be crucified.

5.
The sinless One walks on
As though He were a guilty sinner.
A crowd of wicked men surrounds Him
And mocks and humiliates Him.
His mother, oh, how she breaks down in tears!
And the women who love Him
Cry out in deep anguish.

6.
O Lord, so full of mercy!
O my Savior and Lord!
How great is Your love
For me, a wretched and sinful soul!
Lord, when You come into Your kingdom,
Please remember this servant too.
