“How I Praise Thee”

1.Daivame nin arivaale hrudayam nirackkuke
  Jeevanaam nin krupayaale aathmakan thurakkuke
  Daivajnaanam shreshtadaanam bhakthan sathyasambathum
  Vaanchikkenam kenchidenam kristhuvinkal kandethum

2.Oru baalan thante paatha nirmmala maakkiduvaan
  Karuthenam nin pramaanam kettu kaathu sookshippaan

3.Thediyoru shalomonum ee nikshepam darshane
  Nedi karthan suprasaadam kettu than rahasyathe

4.Daivabhakthikk adisthaanam sathyathin prakaashanam
  Jeevashakthi athindaanam phalam divya swaathanthryam

5.Nadakkumbol idaraathe jnjaanam kaalkal sookshikkum
  Kidakkumbol kaividaathe chuttum kaaval ninnidum

6.Mannum ponnum neengippokum kannin moham vaadume
  Vinnin daanam aathma jnaanam nila nilkkum ennume

7.Daivame nin velippaadin aathmaavingum nalkuke
  Nin prakaasham avakaasham aakkuvaan thannarulke-

Meaning:

1. O God, fill my heart with Your knowledge;
   Open the eyes of my spirit through Your life-giving grace.

Divine wisdom is the greatest gift,
The true treasure of the faithful.
We must long for it and seek it earnestly;
We will find it in Christ.

1. So that a young person may keep their path pure,
   Let them heed Your commandments,
   Guard them, and keep them faithfully.
2. Solomon also sought and saw this treasure;
   He received the Lord’s great favor
   And heard His hidden wisdom.
3. The foundation of godliness is the revelation of truth;
   Its gift is life-giving strength,
   And its fruit is glorious freedom.
4. When we walk, wisdom will keep our feet from stumbling;
   When we lie down, it will not abandon us,
   But will stand guard around us.
5. Earth and gold will pass away,
   And the desires of our eyes will fade;
   But the heavenly gift of spiritual wisdom
   Will remain forever.
6. O God, grant us Your Spirit of revelation;
   Give us Your light,
   So that we may make it our inheritance and walk in it.
