O God, how deep and unfathomable are Your divine ways!
When I think about them, I wonder how anyone could fully understand
Your wonderful and mysterious purposes.

You rule over heaven, earth, and the depths of the sea alike.
In perfect wisdom You continually govern everything
And direct all things for Your glory.

O loving Lord, everything You do works together
For the good of Your beloved servants.
Even things that seem painful or unpleasant
Will ultimately serve a joyful purpose for them.

A bud may taste bitter while it is still closed,
But when it opens and blossoms,
It reveals a beautiful, sweet flower
With the sweetness of honey within.

Even through discipline and great suffering,
O everlasting Lord, I am certain that I will taste
The wonderful sweetness of Your salvation.

Why should my heart grow discouraged
Because dark clouds suddenly rise?
When I remember that You are working everything out perfectly,
My heart is filled with joy.

Even when the waves of a great sea rise around me,
Why should I be troubled?
I can see the strength of my Lord and Husband,
And I will not be afraid.

Even in the darkest night, Lord,
I can see Your right hand guiding and protecting me.
You calm my troubles and fill my heart with peace and joy.
