Meaning:

If someone becomes an enemy of God,
can the consequences of that ever be forgotten?
Can the sentence of judgment be reduced?
The day will come when people everywhere
will stand before Him and give their answer.

1. The Lord of the earth has spoken this message
from the beginning, from the Father Himself.
This is a message worthy of attention:

You may hear it and ignore it.
You may choose to live according to it,
or you may reject it.
You may pursue righteousness and goodness,
or you may disregard them.
But if you deceive yourself
and turn away from Him,
He will reject you.
Remember this:
His judgment is drawing near.

2. Look at what happened in the days of Noah.
People continued in their sinful ways
without regard for the Lord of the whole world.
They forgot His warning
and filled the earth with wickedness.

Then God opened the heavens
and poured out the waters.
The earth was overwhelmed,
and the people cried out in anguish
as the flood rose over everything.

3. Think also of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah,
who were proud and self-indulgent.
They lived according to their own desires
and rejected God's ways.

Then the Lord brought judgment.
The rain fell with terrible force,
and the destruction could not be stopped.
Their homes, land, possessions, strength,
and everything they depended upon
were swept away beneath the waters of judgment.

4. Consider also the sons of Levi—
Korah, Dathan, and Abiram—
who rebelled against God's appointed authority
and treated the holy priestly calling with contempt.

Then the earth itself split open
and swallowed them and their entire company.
They went down alive into the earth,
along with their possessions,
and were destroyed because of their rebellion.
