Meaning:
1.
In this short earthly life, burdens weigh heavily;
Yet He, who bore the piercing iron nails, shall carry these burdens too.
I shall plant my feet upon the unmoving Rock—
Upon the Rock that was cleft for me.
2.
When mighty waves roar and I drift far from the shore,
When I am left alone in my boat, feeling all hope is gone—
I hear the voice of my Beloved, whispering that He is near;
I hear the voice of my Beloved.

When sickness and sorrow mount, and mental anguish grows,
Jesus—who endured suffering on the Cross—is my only refuge.
He will hold me close to His heart, lift me from the mire,
And whisper words of comfort into my ear.

When the body is left behind in the earth and the soul joins the Beloved,
He remains my companion even as I traverse the vast realms beyond.
On the farther shore, I shall behold the company of the redeemed—
A host waiting there for me.

Shores of bliss, lying beyond the reach of human sight—
Streets dazzling with golden chains—
When these become my own, I shall kiss the feet of Jesus,
