O love of God, O love of God!
Its breadth, its height, its depth, its length—
All are beyond measure,
Beyond human understanding.

For those who had fallen deep
Into the pit of sin,
This love made a way for them
To receive freedom and salvation.
Its unfathomable depth
Is the reason for such mercy.

Though humanity disobeyed Your commands
And deliberately rejected Your will,
You still showed compassion
And mercy toward us.
What amazing love!

3.
Though Your enemies destroyed
Your only beloved Son upon the cross,
You used that very sacrifice
To bring complete freedom
And salvation to those who were lost.

4.
Though sinners were like decaying corpses,
Dead and ruined in sin,
Your love gave them beauty and new life,
And placed them in a position
From which they need never perish.

5.
Though humanity was completely unworthy
To receive the blessings of heaven,
You freely gave those blessings to us
Out of Your immeasurable love.

6.
You brought Your enemies near,
Received them as Your own children,
Called them Your beloved family,
And cared for them
With overflowing, generous love.
