           Yerushalemen imba veede! eppol njaan vannu cherum?
           Dharaniyile paadum kedum eppol ingozhiyum?

  1. Bhaktharin bhaagyathalame parimalasthalam neeye
    Dukham vichaaram prayatnam ninkalangille-
     
  2. Raavum andhakaaram vail sheethavum angille
    Deepa thulyam shudharangu shobhichidunne
     
  3. Ratnangalallo ninmathil ponnum maanikyangal
    Panthrandu nin vaathilkalum minnum muthallo-
     
  4. Yerushalemen imba veede! ennu njaan vannu cherum?
    Parama raajaavin mahathwam arikil kandidum-
     
  5. Shreshta nadakkaavukalum thottangalum ellaam
    Kaattuvaan-inayillaatha kootta marangal-
     
  6. Jeeva nadi imba shabdam mevi athiloode
    Povathum eeraaru vruksham nilppathum modi-
     
  7. Dootharum angaarthu sadaa swaramandhalam paadi
    Naadhane kondaadidunna geetham maamodi-
     
  8. Yerushalemin adhipaneesho! thirumun njaan sthuthipaadaan
    Varumvareyum arikil bhavaan irikkanam naadhaa!

Meaning:

Jerusalem, my joyful home! When will I come to you?
When will the pain and brokenness of this earthly life finally end?

1.
You are the blessed home of God’s people,
A place filled with heavenly fragrance.
There is no sorrow, worry, or hardship
To be found within you.

2.
There is no night or darkness there,
No scorching heat or bitter cold.
The redeemed shine brightly there,
Like lamps in the presence of God.

3.
Your walls are adorned with precious stones,
With gold and sparkling jewels.
Your twelve gates
Shine like magnificent pearls.

4.
Jerusalem, my joyful home! When will I come to you?
There I will see the glory of the King of Heaven
And behold Him face to face.

5.
There are beautiful paths and gardens,
And magnificent trees unlike anything we have ever seen.

6.
The river of life flows with a joyful sound,
And beside it stands the beautiful tree of life,
Adding to the splendor of that blessed place.

7.
The angels gather there
And continually sing with heavenly voices,
Joyfully praising and glorifying their Lord.

8.
Jesus, King of Jerusalem,
I long to come and sing Your praises before You.
Until that day comes, my Lord,
Please remain near me and stay by my side.
