You who go through life happily, my friend, think carefully.
All your glory and greatness will fade away
like a flower in the grass.

You may think, “I have good health, strength, and prosperity.”
But in just a little while,
all of these may be gone.

2.
Where are all those who once lived as mighty people in this world?
Think carefully, my friend—
aren’t they now lying in their graves?

3.
The Holy Scriptures say that all people
are like the grass of the field;
there is no difference between us in this regard.

4.
If your heart has become hard like stone,
go to the feet of Jesus and let Him break that hardness.
He certainly will not reject you.

5.
My friend, will you not love mighty Jesus?
Didn’t the Good Shepherd
give His life for you upon the cross?
