Meaning:

Whenever I see Your holy face,
my heart unfolds like a lotus
in the warmth of Your radiant light.
O Beloved of my soul,
O beautiful Bridegroom,
O One whose hair is dark as the rain cloud,
O compassionate Emmanuel!

1
In the beginning, the Father joined me to You,
but sin separated me from You.
O Word who became flesh,
I am the sinner who caused Your life
to suffer such agony.
Because of my unfaithfulness,
I became like dust stained and defiled.
Yet You poured over me
the fragrance of righteousness
like cleansing, perfumed water,
washing away my impurity.

2
From my mouth, which is full of poison,
the mouth of one guilty of the five great sins—
You still receive my pleading words
with a gentle smile
And anointed me with your life-giving blood
I am Your wounded bride,
struck by the arrows of love
that came from those five sacred wounds.
Therefore, let all my thoughts
belong entirely to You.

3
My Beloved,
when the radiance of Your golden mouth
touches me,
Your heart becomes like a garden of flowers,
and Your words are sweeter than honey.
The fragrance of Your gentle words
makes this beloved bride
like a fragrant lotus in the wilderness.
Receive me with joy,
hold me continually against Your breast,
and keep me close to Your heart
like a precious jewel.
Let every thought of mine
belong to You alone.

4
My King, when Your golden hand casts its shadow over me,
Your image begins to shine within my heart.
Apart from You, nothing on earth has any taste for me—
not even the slightest.
O King, whose life fills me
like a seed of divine fire,
nourish and sustain me with Your life.
Fill me with the light of heaven,
and let Your divine life
continue to live within me.
