432. Thenilum madhuram veda
Thenilum madhuram vedamallaathi-nnethundu chol thozhaa
Nee-sashradhamithile sathyangal vaayichu
Dyaanikkuken thozhaa!
- Manjupol lokamahimakal muzhuvan maanjidumen thozhaa
Divya-ranjitha vachanam bhanjithamaakaa
Phalam pozhikkum thozhaa-
- Ponnum vasthrangalum minnum rathnangalumithinnu samamo thozhaa? -
Ennum-puthubalamarulum athishobha kalarum
Gathitharuma nuoonam-
- Thenodu then koodathile nalthelithe-nithinnu samamo thozhaa
Divya-thiruvachanam nin duritham akattaan
Vazhiparayum thozhaa-
- Jeevanundaakkum jagathiyil janangal-kkathi shubhamarulidum
Nithya-jeevaathmasaukhyam devaathmaavarulum
Vazhiyithu thaan noonam-
- Kaananamathil vechaananda rupan veenavanodethirkke
Ithin-jnjaanathin moorcha sthaanathaalavane
Ksheenippichennorka-
- Paarthalamithile bhaagyangal akhilam parinamichozhinjidilum
Nithya-paramesha vachanam paapikku sharanam
Parichayichaal noonam-
Meaning:
There is nothing sweeter than the Word of God, my friend;
Read these truths attentively and meditate on them, my friend!
- Like morning mist, all the glories of this world will fade away, my friend;
But God’s precious Word will never be broken or destroyed;
It will bear lasting fruit. - Can gold, fine clothing, or shining jewels ever compare with it, my friend?
It gives new strength continually, fills the heart with glory,
And leads us along the right path without fail. - Can even the purest honey from the honeycomb compare with it, my friend?
God’s holy Word shows you the way to overcome your troubles. - It brings life and great blessing to people in this world;
It is the way through which the Spirit of God gives
Eternal life and peace to the soul. - Remember how the tempter confronted the fallen one in the wilderness;
By the sharpness and wisdom of God’s Word,
He was defeated and weakened. - Even when every earthly blessing changes and passes away,
The eternal Word of God remains;
When a sinner takes refuge in it, it will never fail him.
