897.  Swarloka paura

          Swarlloka paura janame tharumo ee-
          Lokam sthiradhanamo sukhamo?
          Nammalkkenthinnee yulakin mahima?
          Kristhuvinte ninda chumakkaam

  1. Vilayerum ninam chorinju namme veendeduthathavanaam
    Thante kaalchuvadukalil nokki pintudarum nammal-anyar-ulakil
     
  2. Paripaavananaay nadanna- paraneshuvodeeyulakam
    Perumaari-yethiraayittenkil namukke-thiraakuvath-atbhuthamo?-
     
  3. Avan moolam bhooviyulavaam apamaanam nithya-dhanamaam
    Avan maanichidum nithya-thejass dharippikkum Daiva dootha sadassil-
     
  4. Ihaloka chintha-vedinje swantha-naattilekke thirinje
    Namukkaayi veedorukkum naadhan varavinnaay Kaathirikkaam priyare!-

Meaning:

O Citizens of heaven, tell me:
Can this world give us lasting riches or true happiness?
What do we need the glory of this world for?
Let us gladly bear the reproach of Christ.

He is the One who redeemed us
by pouring out His precious blood.
Let us look to His footsteps
and follow Him faithfully,
even though we are strangers
and pilgrims in this world.

If this world opposed the Lord Jesus,
who lived a completely holy life,
should we be surprised
when the world also opposes us?

The disgrace we suffer on earth
because of Christ
will become an eternal treasure.
He will honor us,
clothe us with everlasting glory,
and welcome us into the company
of God's holy angels.
4
Let us turn away from the worries of this present world
and set our hearts on our true homeland.
Our Lord is preparing a home for us.
So, beloved, let us wait patiently
and joyfully for His return.
