Meaning:

The Word, the Word — the Holy Word,
The Word that brings joy to human hearts, the Holy Word.

1. In the beginning was the Word,
   And the Word was God.
   This Word, full of grace and truth,
   Took on flesh and came to earth as a man.

2. This Word is a lamp for the path,
   A beautiful light in this world.
   For the traveler who does not know the way,
   The Holy Word continually provides guidance and protection.

3. On this life’s path, where darkness grows deeper,
   When I become weary and faint,
   I will always meditate on this Word as my comfort—
   The Word that never changes.
