Meaning:

1. O home where the holy ones praise God,
the refuge prepared for God's children,
where golden streets shine in glory—
will I one day enter there with great joy?

In Jerusalem, the praises of heaven
will resound forever.
Will I join that glorious company?
Will I enter there and dwell with my Savior?

2. O city with twelve gates
made of precious pearls,
my eyes long deeply
to see your glory
and rejoice in your beauty.

3. O land where there is no blindness,
O glorious home shining with God's radiance!
The Lamb of God is your lamp.
There I will sing His praises
without measure or end.

4. O land where there is no suffering,
the resting place of God's faithful people!
O New Jerusalem,
where glory continually increases—
when will I finally rest
upon the Lord's breast?

5. O garden of God,
with the pure and crystal-clear river of the water of life,
and the trees of life growing
on both sides of the river,
bearing their precious fruit.

6. Around the Lord's throne
the heavenly beings play their harps.
What joy it will be
to join them there
and sing God's praises together!
