Meaning:

O glorious King, Bridegroom of Zion!
You were born of a virgin
to rescue the entire world,
which had become destined for destruction.
O glorious King, Bridegroom of Zion!

1.
When the shepherds came in a group,
O Jesus, You were lying in a humble manger,
wrapped in simple cloth.
You are the God who created

the very materials for silk clothing;
seeing You in such humble surroundings,
I bow before You in worship.

2.
The Magi came to You with devotion
and offered gifts of gold, myrrh, and frankincense.
They openly proclaimed and honored You
as the King possessing supreme authority.

3.
O Jesus, when You were twelve years old,
You went with Your parents to God's house.
There You spoke with the learned teachers
about matters of God's law and truth,
and they marveled at Your wisdom.

4.
At the age of thirty, You left Your home
and came to Judea to be baptized.
Without hesitation, You entered the waters of the Jordan
and were baptized like an ordinary human being.

5.
After fasting for forty days,
the enemy came to tempt You.
You yielded to none of his evil temptations,
but through steadfastness and faithfulness
You defeated that terrible enemy.

6.
You healed those suffering from leprosy
and gave sight to those who were blind.
You raised Lazarus, who had been dead for four days,
and with five loaves of bread
You fed five thousand people until they were satisfied.

7.
To remove the deadly poison of sin,
You died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice.
You, the innocent One, bore the punishment
for the sins and transgressions of this sinful person.
Therefore, I bow before You in gratitude.

8.
As long as I live here on earth,
I will praise Your grace.
Grant me the desire to remember Your beautiful name
more and more,
a name honored even by the inhabitants of heaven.

9.
O Jesus, do not let me become attached
to worldly things that have no lasting value.
Let me look with longing toward the land
where destruction and death are no more,
and with a holy hope,
let me place my trust and confidence in You.
