The Lost Sheep

 Participants  : 2 boys and 2 girls [ages 14-16]

Time            : Sunday morning

[Susan and Emily talking to each other and walking down the street, also carrying bible and note books. Seem happy .Tom and John playing ball in the street]

John:  Hi Susan, hi Emily, why are you girls up and out of bed so early on a Sunday morning?

Tom:  Yeah girls where are you going? And why are you so happy?

Susan: We are going to church

Emily: We are happy because today is our Sunday school anniversary. Would you like to come with us?

John:  I don’t like to go to church because they are always talking about how people will end up in hell where there is fire, suffering and punishment.

Tom:  John is right. Besides my parents never goes to church nor do they force me to go.

Susan: No body forces us to go either. We want to go to church. John, hell is a real place so is heaven. It is up to us to decide where we want to go after we die, and it is very simple. If you are a born again child of God you will go to heaven, if not you’ll go to hell.

John:  Okay, okay, enough preaching. If you are a good person is that not enough? Why do you have to go to church?

Emily: In church we share our faith, strengthen one another, encourage one another and help those who need it. We also learn a lot of things from bible like how to handle peer pressure, how to say “no” to ungodly things, in a nutshell how to live a victorious Christian life. Not only that the Sunday school teachers are really cool. My teacher Alice aunty knows a lot. She helps me make decisions and I can talk to her about anything.

Susan: That’s right! When we are confused and don’t know what to do, you know, our parents and the Sunday school teachers helps us with answers from the bible. This bible (lifting up bible) can help you to find answers for everything

John:  This old book? This is for old people. I rather read a novel or watch T V.

Emily: You are right about one thing John. It is the oldest book in the whole world, but it’s God’s book. It is for every generation. Jesus Christ is same yesterday, today and forever.

Susan: John what you said about hell fire.. well let me ask you a question. If you die today do you know where you are going?

Both John and Tom together: What is there to know? We are going to heaven.

Susan: How do you know that?

John:  When I was a baby I was baptized so, I know I’m going to heaven.

Tom:  Me too

(Few girls and boys pass by)

One of them: Girls come on you are going to be late for church

Emily: You guys go on we’ll join you soon.

Susan: The bible very clearly teaches that we cannot get into heaven based on our good works, baptism or anything like that

Tom:  Then how do you go to heaven?

Susan: God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ into the world to bear the sin of ALL mankind.

“For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” {John3:16}

Emily: All you have to do is confess you sins and believe that the Lord Jesus died for your sins, rose again on the third day, now sitting in heaven at the right hand side of God the Father and He will come back again to take us to heaven.

Susan: If you confess your sins, the kind and merciful Lord will forgive your sins, come into your heart and make you His child. That’s what we call being born again.

John:  You both keep talking about our “sins” What sins? We don’t cheat, steel, or lie.. well may a white lie once in a while.

Tom:  We don’t hurt anyone or do anything bad

Emily: We know that. We are not implying that you do any of those things. The first couple Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God. The sin of your first parents has come down to you as a inheritance. The bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” {Romans 3:23} so you see, we are all sinners by birth.

Susan: You don’t have to live as a sinner or die as one. There is a way out of it. God’s law says, “The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life” {Romans 6:23}

Tom:  So then how do you get that eternal life?

Emily: Like Susan said earlier, just pray for forgiveness of your sins and ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart.

John:  Is that it? I don’t want to sound negative or anything but, that salvation…well it sounds so cheap, so....simple

Susan: My dear friend, SALVATION IS NOT CHEAP. It caused God His only Son and it caused Jesus Christ His blood, His life. Remember “Wages of sin is death”. Jesus never sinned but died for sin, yours and mine.

Emily: Salvation is free not cheap.

Tom:  Aren’t you going to be late for church?

John:  Thanks for talking to us. See you in school.

Susan: Won’t you come to Church with us?

John:  We’ll come another time, you know, after we are saved and all besides, I don’t have a bible.

Emily: Here take mine. I have another one at home and John, what is stopping you from being saved right now. The bible says “behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. (2nd Corinthians 6:2)

Susan: We will pray with you right now if you like.

Tom:  Are you out of your mind? In the middle of the street?

Emily: Sure, why not? God is ready to forgive you and accept you as His son.

John:  I am ready. Tom, I don’t think God cares about where we are. I remember a song that I heard a long time ago. Will you sing with me? I am not much of a singer.

Emily & Susan: Sure, we will sing with you.

John:  “I have decided to follow Jesus (3)

[Emily and Susan joining, reluctantly Tom is also joining]

No turning back, no turning back

The cross before me, the world behind me (3)

No turning back, no turning back

(All four of them kneels down and pray)

Susan: Tom, here, you take this bible. Read it every day. If you read 4 chapters a day, you can finish reading the whole bible in just one year. Also don’t forget to pray everyday.

Emily: Come on, let us go to church and share the good news with everyone. And you know what else guys, Heaven is rejoicing now!

(The four goes to church singing and rejoicing)

“Amazing grace how sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me

I once was lost but, now am found

Was blind but now I see”
