IMMANUEL- GOD WITH US
(Skit for 20 children)
(Play BGM of ‘Mary did you know’ throughout the skit)
Narrator: “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
The Lord spoke through prophet Isaiah hundreds of years before the birth of our Lord Jesus. His name is Immanuel, meaning the Lord with us. He truly was with everyone; not only with Mary who was chosen to be His mother but with all the Israelites, the chosen people. He did many miracles to make them realize that He Himself was their Messiah; but many of them did not realize who he was.
We, children of class 5 and 6 of xxxxxx Sunday school would like to bring to you testimonies of some miracles Jesus did, which were sufficient proof for any onlookers to realize and believe that Jesus himself was the real Messiah.
Curtain opens:
Scene : Mary -Jesus’ mother (holding her baby) sitting on the corner of the stage (Jesse & Sonya coming from the left side greenroom with bread baskets; Hanna, Bennil and Rima coming from the right side greenroom)
Jesse: Hi friends, do you know what happened today? Jesus was preaching to a crowd of five thousand!
Hanna: five thousand people! What a huge crowd!
Sonya: Yes, after the long meeting, everyone was hungry
Jesse: and there were no restaurants nearby
Bennil: Why didn’t you take some food with you?
Jesse: We had .. and we were about to eat our lunch which my mom gave us.
Rima: Then what happened?
Sonya :, Then one uncle came and asked for our food
Jesse: yeh, he said Jesus wants it. I thought Jesus was hungry and I gave it to him
Hanna: Was he happy with your tiffin?
Sonya: Actually it was not only for him. He blessed the food and then, it was like magic!
Jesse: The bread and the fish multiplied and there was sooo much for everyone.
Bennil: Really???
Jesse: see, these are some leftovers!!
Hanna: can we have some? I want to make sure it is real bread or not
Sonya: Sure! we will give this to everyone
Rima: wonder how can Jesus do this?
Jesse : Because He is the son of God; He is the Messiah we were waiting for..
(While the first stanza of the song is being sung from the background, Mary walks through the stage with her baby)
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered will soon deliver you? Mary did you know?
(Nelson- blind, with black specs and a walking stick come out from R. green room along with his friend Ilaya - deaf & dumb; Ilaya helps Nelson to walk- going to the left greenroom; Dhanya, Angelina & Elizabeth comes the opposite way)
Nelson: O My God, can I trust this man? I can’t see a thing and he can’t talk or hear!! (walks towards the girls)
Angelina: hey, watch out.. they are coming towards us…
Ilaya: hum… hummm… (Pushes nelson to one side)
Dhanya: Can’t you see us girls coming?
Nelson: Whats the matter?
Angelina: You people should have some manners!
Ilaya: hum….hummm
Elizabeth: what is this hum hum? why can’t you talk?
Nelson: we’re sorry…but I am blind, and my friend can’t talk or hear… please forgive..
Ilaya: Humm…
Angelina: O sorry, we didn’t know..
Dhanya: Where are you going with so much difficulty?
Nelson: We are going to see Jesus, son of David.. we heard that he can heal us.
Elizabeth: Jesus… is he the son of David??
Dhanya: I thought he is the son of Joseph the carpenter and his wife Mary..
Ilaya: Humm…hummmm
Nelson: Yes, he is; O, son of David, have mercy upon us!
(Girls walk to the right side greenroom.)
(Roshan carry a pillow & Josh a mat; comes out from left greenroom-jumps with joy. Edwin & Atheena follows)
Roshan : Praise the Lord! I can now walk and jump like you people…
Edwin: That was amazing. I still can’t believe it.
Josh: Wow, what a miracle! Is he the old Prophet Elijah?
Roshan: No guys, he is Prophet Jesus -the Messiah. He is the redeemer of Israel.
Josh: But the Pharisees and scribes, they are against him.
Edwin: Yeah, they say Jesus is not the Messiah. I feel pity for them!
Nelson: Friends, have you seen Him, Jesus the Messiah?
Roshan: Yes, I was lame, but look! I walk now! He is truly the Son of God!
Ilaya: hum….humm… (pulls Nelson’s walking stick in a hurry; Nelson trembles )
Nelson: I also want to see that man... “O, son of David, have mercy upon us!
(Nelson & Ilaya goes left; Roshan, Josh & Edwin goes to the rightside green room)
BG Song (Mary walks through the stage with her baby)
Mary did you know - that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know -that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.
The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the Lamb.
(Nelson and Ilaya comes out rejoicing from the left greenroom)
Nelson : O, what a beautiful world…I am seeing all this the first time..
Ilaya: Nelson, I am also blessed… now I can hear and talk! praise the Lord!
Nelson : I do not need this walking stick and this black specs anymore.
Ilaya: ok, ok but don’t say you don’t need me too. We will remain as friends..
Nelson: sure we will…(walks to the right side greenroom)

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.
(Saumya, Ashley and comes out from the rightside greenroom. Jeevon(Lazarus) comes out from the left greenroom. On seeing Lazarus, Saumya, Ashley and Favien scream.)
Saumya: Ayyo ghost! Ghost! Run, Favien, run for your life..
Ashley: Oh my God! We just buried Lazarus a few days back!
Favian: How come he’s alive?
Jeevon: Wait, listen to me!
Saumya: Look! He’s coming to catch us!
Sheba: Listen…he’s not a ghost!
Alicia: It’s Lazarus come back from the dead!
Favien: Lazarus!! How can he come out, I myself have sealed his tomb
Saumya: yes, how can anyone come back from the dead?
Jeevon: It’s true! I was dead, but nothing is impossible with God!
Sheba: Jesus came to the tomb after 4 days, and asked the people to roll the stone away.
Alicia: Then He called my brother by his name.
Jeevon: yeh… I felt like someone was waking me up.. you know, it was sooo dark inside the tomb
Sheba: Suddenly, we saw him walking out of the tomb. And that is when you saw him.
Ashley: my god!! I can’t believe this…
Favien: Jesus is Son of God… He can do any miracles.
Saumya: Now.. now I believe.. He is the son of God.
Alicia: Come, Martha and Lazarus! Let’s go home and prepare some food.
Jeevon: that’s good.. I did not eat for some days.. I am very hungry
Sheba: Ok Ok.. we will! Jesus and His disciples are also coming to our house now
{all children comes and stands in 2 rows for the song (Away in a Manger) as the narrator concludes}
Narrator: Dear Friends, have we ever fallen doubtful when troubles encircle us? For Mary Jesus’ mother, it was clear that her son was not an ordinary child; she remembers the words of the Angel that one day her son would deliver the people of Israel but…. was she that confident always? Even John the Baptist, whose mission was to prepare the ways of the Lord and to preach the message of repentance, was sometime doubtful.
Let us examine ourselves.. and stay close to our redeemer, for He is Immanuel- God with us ..so that we will never ever tremble.
